Great article. Slighly off topic, but as much as I love fantasy, the medieval backdrop is a little over done. I would really like to see one with a Jaredite background.

Very, very interesting indeed. Especially the observation that Jews are “deeply and passionately invested in modernity.” Things I’ve never had occasion to think about.

I’m something of a Judeophile, like many LDS, but not an ignorant one. The “deeply and passionately invested in modernity” rings very true to me.

True fantasy has a blood and soil heart to it that doesn’t fit well with the Jewish experience. Arguably Israel IS the Jewish fantasy.
