A chip on your shoulder?

Virginia bans involuntary chip implants.

I didn’t know this was a problem.

Some of the legislators apparently believe chip implants are the Mark of the Beast. I didn’t know you could put off the Apocalypse by legislative action. But then, I didn’t know you could legislate a more favorable climate, either, until the IPCC told me so.

The Emperor knows where to find me anytime he needs me, of course. I’m mostly chip implant at this point.

Human chip implants aren’t legal at this point anyhow, so banning it seems somewhat redundant.

Bruce, how so? Prohibition through federal law, or merely lack of approval by the FDA? Either way can be changed quickly.

One of the stories I read about implantable microchips is that the chip designers had a few extra bytes left over. (And as technology progresses, they’ve been able to fit more and more bytes on smaller and smaller areas of silicon.) Guess what series of three digits the chip designers decided to put in the extra unused space, just as a joke?

Chips to track “people” have existed forever, but they are only legal for animals, not people. I have never heard that it was turned legal as of yet. Presumably the FDA has to okay it. I suppose outlawing it at the state level is a way of insulating against some future change of the law.

That didn’t come across right. I meant chips that *could* be used to track people have existed forever. But that they are not legal for people yet and are only okayed for tracking animals.
