RIP Sgt. Dale Griffin

Now it came to pass that when Lehi and Moroni knew that Teancum was dead they were exceedingly sorrowful; for behold, he had been a man who had fought valiantly for his country, yea, a true friend to liberty; and he had suffered very many exceedingly sore afflictions. But behold, he was dead, and had gone the way of all the earth.

I know his family. They are in a nearby stake, not far from Indianapolis, where I am. Truly it is the greatest sacrifice to lay one’s life down for his fellow man.

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori, sed dulcius pro patria vivere…

What an awful, humbling sacrifice. We have much to be grateful for.

…My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori.

My heart goes out to his family.
