Wodehouse Humor

June 18th, 2009 by Adam Greenwood

If this is true, Mormons should make comedies that are not about being zany but about scrambling to clean up your house in time for the hometeachers, and Americans should make comedies where everyone desperately tries to stay PC.

Manolo on “Dictator Chic”

June 16th, 2009 by GST

“The President of the Iran wears the same khaki windbreaker, wrinkled trousers, cheap oxford shirts, scruffy beard and wild eyes favored by the aging high school chemistry teachers everywhere…. The Manolo has nothing more to say about the clothes of the Ahmadinejad, other than that they are bad, terribly bad, even when judged against the already lamentably low standards set by the current crop of tyrants, despots, and dictators-to-be.”Briefly and remarkably, the President of the Iran wears the same khaki windbreaker, wrinkled trousers, cheap oxford shirts, scruffy beard and wild eyes favored by the aging high school chemistry teachers everywhere.... The Manolo has nothing more to say about the clothes of the Ahmadinejad, other than that they are bad, terribly bad, even when judged against the already lamentably low standards set by the current crop of tyrants, despots, and dictators-to-be.

One Man on God’s Side is a Majority

June 15th, 2009 by Adam Greenwood

I always laugh when I see some student at BYU, e.g., courageously defying the campus in the service of some cause dear to the elite consensus, like protesting Dick Cheney. Acting as a mouthpiece for the powerful against remnant local resistance requires a little courage, I guess, but not much. Speaking truth for power ain’t that hard. (more…)
