Interesting article on why pro athletes are often broke.  (Short answer: They are more analogous to lottery winners than white-collar businessmen, and they dump their earnings into bling and dubious private equity deals with “friends.”  Also, profligate procreating.)  Note the not-t00-flattering mention of Ty Detmer and his investment firm at pages 4/5.

I haven’t done any dubious private equity deals with “friends” for awhile. Anyone up for it?
